We’ve Saved a Seat for You...

What to Expect on Sunday

Walking into a new church can feel intimidating. Our goal is to make your first Sunday simple, clear, and welcoming—no pressure, no show, just Jesus and a small-town church family.

• Service length: About 70–80 minutes
• Music: A blend of classic hymns and modern worship songs
• Preaching: Verse-by-verse, gospel-centered preaching from the Bible
• Dress: Mostly jeans and casual—come as you are
• Atmosphere: Friendly, multi-generational, small-town family

You won’t be singled out or put on the spot. You can participate as much or as little as you feel ready for.

For Your Kids

We know your kids are your first concern. Our Kids and Student ministries are designed to be safe, clear, and centered on Jesus, so you can focus on worship knowing they’re in good hands.

On your first Sunday, stop at the Kids Desk in the lobby. We’ll walk you through check-in in just a couple of minutes and help you find each room.
Members of First Southern Baptist Church in Pomeroy gathered around tables for fellowship and Bible study, showcasing the community and small group life of the church.

Who You’ll Meet

On a typical Sunday, you’ll see kids, students, parents, & grandparents worshiping together.

  • You’ll  meet our friendly greeters who can answer questions.
  • Our worship team will lead us in Christ-centered songs.
  • Pastor Josh will preach verse by verse Biblical application.

You don’t have to have it all together or know all the “church words.”  Come as you are—we’re here to help you take your next step with Jesus, not to put on a show.

Questions People Ask

Will I be judged for what I wear?
No. Jeans are normal here. Wear what you have—God is far more interested in your heart than your outfit.
Are my kids safe?
Yes. We use secure check-in tags, every kids volunteer is background-checked, and we follow a two-adult policy in every room. We take your child’s safety very seriously.
What do you teach?
We teach the Bible, verse by verse, centered on Jesus. You’ll hear the good news that Jesus welcomes imperfect people and changes us from the inside out.
I’ve been hurt by church before. Is it okay if I just come and sit?
Absolutely. Many of us have been there. We’re not perfect, but we aim to be honest, biblical, and kind. You’re welcome to come, listen, and take things at your own pace.
Do I need to know the Bible already?
No. We’ll open Scripture together and explain it in clear, simple language. You can follow along at your own speed.
Do I have to plan my visit to come?
No. You’re always welcome to just show up. Planning your visit simply helps us be ready to greet you, help with kids, and answer questions.

What Happens When I Plan My Visit?

When you fill out the Plan My Visit form:

1.  You’ll receive a confirmation email with the details you need for Sunday.
2.  Our team will be ready to welcome you, help with Kids Check-In, and show you around.
3. If you’d like, we can sit you with someone who can answer questions and help you feel at home.

You’re not signing up for anything long-term—you’re just letting us know you’re coming so we can serve you well.

Ready to Plan Your Visit?

“We’ve been members here for years, and we don’t ‘know our church’ anymore—and that’s a good thing. There are new faces, new families, and new life. We’re learning new names every week and we love it.”

- Bill

“Our kids actually want to come to church now. They’re learning the Bible, making friends, and they feel safe. As parents, that means everything to us.”

- Amanda
