A Great Commission Church | Steve Hopkins, SCBO Prayer Consultant | FSBC Online
There is a church in the New Testament that Jesus did not rebuke. Not one word of criticism. Not a single “but I have this against you.” In Revelation 2 and 3, Jesus writes seven letters to seven churches. Five of them get corrected. Two get only commendation. And one of those two is the smallest, weakest, least impressive one on the list — the church in Philadelphia.
Jesus says to that church: “I know that you have but little power… behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut.” In this sermon on Revelation 3:7–13, we walk through the marks of a Great Commission church. Your gifts are not too modest. Your time is not too short. The door does not depend on your power. It depends on his. “Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut.” -Revelation 3:8
